We coordinate appropriate technical and engineering specialists according to the requirements of each project. Engineering work in Botswana is carried out by practitioners certified by the Engineers Registration Board of Botswana, and professional sign-off comes from them.

Yes. We can assess projects throughout Botswana, subject to project requirements and specialist availability. Remote sites carry access and logistics costs that should be assessed early.

Insika professional fees are quoted per project once the scope is clear, and are normally structured by stage. Government fees are separate, and we confirm the current schedule with the relevant authority rather than quoting one that may have changed.

Environmental authorisation. Section 5(1) of the Environmental Assessment Act 2011 requires a licensing authority to ensure authorisation has been issued before it issues any permit, licence, consent or approval for a prescribed activity. Yes, a defined list of trade categories, largely consumer-facing retail and services. Joint ventures may participate in reserved businesses provided Batswana retain at least 51 percent. Note the Government of Botswana states eighteen reserved licence types while a Ministry list reported elsewhere names seventeen, so confirm the current schedule for your activity.

No. CEDA requires the business to be 100 percent citizen-owned. A 51 percent joint venture, which is sufficient for a reserved trade licence, does not qualify. Foreign-participating projects should look to the Botswana Development Corporation, commercial banks and the special economic zone incentives instead.

Under section 40 of the Mines and Minerals Act 1999, on the issue of a mining licence Government may acquire up to 15 percent working interest, and it is obliged to contribute its share of the costs. Government must state its election when it issues the licence. Diamond participation is negotiated separately under a section 51 agreement.

No. PPADB was formally replaced by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority on 14 April 2022 under the Public Procurement Act 24 of 2021. Registration is on the Integrated Procurement Management System. See government tenders.

Under BERA's Rooftop Solar Guidelines, rooftop systems above 100 kW are licensed by BERA, with a 15 year licence term. Larger generation projects need two approvals: authorisation to construct significant infrastructure, and then the generation licence. See energy and green economy.
